Choir

Huguenot boast a Junior and Senior Choir. We regularly and with great success take part in a variety of performances and competitions. These include renowned eisteddfods, choir festivals, singing services, as well as national competitions such as the ATKV Applause Choir Competition and Sing in Harmony. In 2018, we were named national winners in the Sing in Harmony series, which was broadcast on Kyknet.

In addition, we regularly perform as guest artists at various functions. Performances usually take place in the evenings or on weekends.

After choir auditions have been conducted with the choir leader, learners are eligible to be considered as choir members. The Junior Choir rehearses during school hours and the Senior Choir rehearses during school hours, as well as one afternoon after school.

Choir members must wear formal school uniforms for performances.

Orff-Orchestra

This is a group of learners with rhythm and courage! Our Orff Orchestra is a percussion orchestra that regularly performs at eisteddfods, cultural evenings and on request at small private functions. They even performed as guest artists at Breyten Breytenbach’s birthday.

Previous musical experience is not a requirement for participation in the Orff Orchestra. Learners with a love of music and good rhythm can qualify for a place in the orchestra through an audition.

The Orff Orchestra practices twice a week.
